Oh how it pains me to learn that Michele McCormack is uprooting herself from our amazing city to get all westward ho on some midwest anchor's desk. Pity. There was barely a night that went by where I didn't find myself clenching in anticipation for the 'Mack's wondrously overdramatic descriptions of life's maladies, setting the bar for what Samantha Bee cops satirically.
Michele, know that at least one Philadelphian will sorely miss your style. I'd say that Action News will never be the same, but thankfully, we still have Dan Cueller.
Hold the phone... her bio says that prior to coming to Channel 6, "she was weekend anchor for KMBC in Kansas City, MO, reporter for KWCH in Wichita, KS, and producer/anchor at WGEM in Quincy, IL."
I too am a huge fan of Ms. McCormack's work, and especially enjoy her spot reporting from concert parking lots and sports bars.
If anyone should be traded to the Midwest, it should be that Monica Malpass; she nasty.

I've actually been spending time studying this Jessica Borg as of late. There's just something sinister behind those slightly cockeyed eyes...
Posted by: Wook | 2005.10.14 at 08:43
"Jess has four siblings and enjoys tennis, photography, chess, and travel."
How measured is that?
"She's a girl who loves her family, plus she's athletic, artistic, smart and fun. She's the total package. You too will be assimilated by Ms Borg. Sexy resistance is futile."
Behind those mischievous eyes though, I see the untold bio: "While she looks like an attainable woman with a champagne giggle, she enjoys it hard, fast with light emotional attachment from rich, good looking, older men that have big yachts and real estate development companies. She's also into swarthy Argentinian tennis pros that drive expensive Italian cars. She'll eventually settle down with someone of slightly above average good looks that's way above your league. You will find this off-putting and it will always taint your opinion of her unless she doesn't age gracefully in which case you will delight in her decline."
I've had a big pot of coffee this morning and when my beloved stall #3 is taken, it gets me all worked up. Enjoys chess...oh c'mon!

I must say, that swoop of a hairdo on the top of her head is certainly severe. It looks like at any moment she could tie that back and go into full lesbian-ninja-warrior mode. Hiya!
Posted by: Lovely Man | 2005.10.14 at 10:59
What's the matter Flink? Is your rook in need of a firm slide across my board?
Posted by: Jess | 2005.10.14 at 11:09
Upon further research, it seems Jessica's love of the game is a new obsession, or in my humble estimation, an attempt to bolster membership amongst the intelligensia.
I hear Jim Gardner is hardcore into sudoko.
Posted by: Wook | 2005.10.14 at 11:15
Jess, I'll counter your opening move with a Sicilian, take you en passant, you'll castle in haste and I'll have you mated before you know it!
On second thought maybe chess is a sexy game...

Cecily Tynan is the answer.
Now, what's the question?
Posted by: Neqq | 2005.10.14 at 13:22
Cathy Gandolfo with a strap-on beats Tynan.
Posted by: bvsc | 2005.10.14 at 20:38
Perhaps -- Gandolfo is mannish, with or without the strap-on. So much so that one wonders if the strap-on isn't a tad redundant. So, I suppose it depends on what one is looking for, in the Tynan vs. Gandolfo debate.
On one hand, you've got a NJ/church correspondant who's look says "I'm a bit stunned that anyone saw fit to employ me in a visual medium."
vs.
The other hand, where we've got a Weatherho who gives the impression that underneath the vaguely-sexy-yet-sensible fashion choices and the obsession with physical fitness lurks the heart of an angry, angry dickhunter. The type that would launch you up against a wall and depant you with blazing eyes and flaring nostrils, to prove to herself, and secondarily to you, that she's an ovum-clad Alpha Ape of Booty.
Gandolfo, perhaps a more interesting choice to find out why someone so odd-looking has decide to put themselves on-camera. To get to the heart of her self-loathing would make for an interesting evening of conversation, strap-on or otherwise.
But Cecily....that's for hardcore fuckin'.
Posted by: Neqq | 2005.10.15 at 13:20
Fucking shit, I'm sorry I missed this thread today.
Dude, back in the day I used to run into Cathy Gandolfo at crime scenes, labor pickets, election night-rallies and whatever other calamities befell South Jersey ... that there is a woman who commands attention and respect. Freeholders cower in deference when she rolls up in that newsvan.
(And I'll tell you, give me a weekend at the Borgata with that Matt O'Donnell. There's one I could corrupt. Ma-donn!)

don't know where i'm going w/ this but ms Cecily Tynan was dating this rugby player on a philadelphia team for a long time only to dump him for her personal trainer after he got her in beter shape. i don't think that ever made wpvi news tho...

Let's face it, Michele had a major shortcoming with 6 Action News. She was excellent as an anchor and - based on past legal issues - was very interested in an anchor position. But, she did not fit the Channel 6 mold. Note that other female anchors where hired during her tenure. Alas, her skin color and ethnicity were against her. I'm now an Eyewitness News viewer. I cannot abide discrimination in any form!
Posted by: DisActionNews | 2005.10.19 at 09:41
To even trumpet the Mack as worthy of an anchor's seat in Philadelphia is to do Jim Gardner's mustache a great diservice.
And if skin color is your rationale for tuning in to a given station, why go with the Eye? I mean, Larry Mendte is the whitest of the whities, yo!
Posted by: Wook | 2005.10.19 at 09:48
Let's face it, it's all about ratings. You can't tell me that the enthusiasm and bubbling that Michele brings to the table would not take Action News up a notch from the "same-old" that it's had for decades. The formula approach is getting old. The combinations like Rick and Monica don't make me want to choose 6 over anyone else...in marketing, it's supposed to! Give me a great smile and hearty laugh along with some melodrama and I'm there.
Posted by: DisActionNews | 2005.10.19 at 11:14
I think I agree with DisAction to an extent, and thus my Cecily jones....
Replace "great smile and hearty laugh" with "blouse-popping rack and on-your-knees-dude eyes," and "melodrama" with "bootiliciousness," and I'm there, brother....I'm there.
Here's the real issue I'd like to explore, Dis-A...you seem, well, I think obsessed is perchance the word, with Philly newscaster-based issue. I'd like to understand, if you don't mind, what drives you to spend what is clearly a significant portion of your waking hours mulling over the watachability of various talking heads reading the news, and the "bubbliness" that ensues.
Three other questions:
1) Have you seen "Anchorman", and your opinion thereof.
2) Do you watch "The Daily Show", and your opinion thereof
3) Do you read "The Onion," and your opinion thereof.
4) If you answer yes to at least 33% of the preceeding questions, how is it that you still find yourself considering significant the utter inanity of newscasting cliche?
Thanks.
Posted by: Neqq | 2005.10.19 at 13:25
Wook... I did not say I had a problem with skin color.
Neqq... Have watched Action News since I was a kid. I'm in corporate America, it does not take much thought to see how the station operates if you are watching anyway. No to all 3, therefore 4 by default.
Thanks for letting me vent though. Bush-o-nomics anyone?
Posted by: Dis | 2005.10.19 at 16:37
No no, only read as a rationale for changing the channel. And feel free to come often - this is a venting freeforall zone for fellow corporawhores (me included).

Fuck all of you.
You especially, external.
Cheese anyone?
Posted by: Grampa | 2005.10.19 at 18:13
She had great cans. Is Monica Asian?
Posted by: simplemotherf-er | 2007.08.24 at 20:43
Turn off action news and check out Fox 29. I'm not kidding. Dorothy, Kerri-lee, Michelle, those are legitimately hot babes.
